CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that releases compressions in the skull and sacrum that help relieve pain and dysfunction in the whole body. CST increases blood flow, CSF (cerebrospinal fluid), and lymph and down-regulates the nervous system to improve the overall function of the physical body and mental health. It targets the nervous system into deep relaxation (parasympathetic response), where the body’s self-correcting mechanisms take over.

I offer a variety of CranioSacral Therapy and coaching.  Depending on what is needed during the session, I may draw upon other modalities, including SomatoEmotional Release.

SomatoEmotional Release: SER is a therapeutic process that helps rid the mind and body of the residual effects of past trauma and associated negative emotional experiences. It supplements the practice of CranioSacral Therapy to advance and expand its usefulness.

My main focus is working with those suffering from headaches/migraines, concussions, anxiety, and unresolved trauma.

Katy is a talented practitioner and healer. I have just begun cranial sacral treatments with her. She is very intuitive and seems to know just where to place her hands to help balance the body's energy. I will be continuing to see her on a regular basis. Of all the cranial sacral therapists I have seen, and there have been many, she is by far the best.” Mary (see all testimonials)

How does CranioSacral Therapy Work?

Every day, your body endures stresses and strains (emotional/physical) that it must work to compensate for to maintain homeostasis. Unfortunately, these stresses often cause body tissues to tighten and distort the craniosacral system (in the brain and spinal cord), which causes tension, pain, and emotional imbalances, especially during longer times of stress or sudden injury. This affects the central nervous system and potentially all other systems.

Fortunately, such restrictions are observed and corrected using the light touch of CranioSacral Therapy. As a craniosacral therapist, I use my hands to evaluate the craniosacral system by feeling the subtle rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) around the brain and spinal cord. Then, I use gentle techniques to help release restrictions in the tissues influencing the craniosacral rhythm. This allows the body’s CSF rhythm to normalize and enhances the body to self-correct.

CranioSacral Therapy helps alleviate many dysfunctions and offers deep relaxation to the recipient.
